Just in case some of these questions pop up as you investigate getting involved in our group…
Q: Do I have to be an actual member at your church to attend?
A: Not at all! Some of our youth are members (and we have a separate process for this for those who are interested), but many of them are not. We want you to come and be a part of our community without having to be a member, per se, especially if church is something new for you.
Q: If I belong to another church (or if I’m involved in another youth group), then can I still come to your group?
A: Of course! We should state up front, however, that we are not interested in competing for your time with another church. So many of you are quite busy as it is, and we don’t want to add another thing to your schedules if you are involved in another Bible-believing church! We would rather you be involved in your home church, assuming you are being fed spiritually, but you are always welcome.
Q: What if I don’t believe everything your group believes, or what if I’m not sure what I believe? Can I still come?
A: Please come! We understand that you may not believe all that we believe. In fact, many of our youth are at varying stages of their faith. Many believe in Christ; some are not sure what they believe, but they’re interested. All of us have questions. Though the church as a whole, along with its leaders, believes that which is written in the the Our Beliefs section, and though we make no attempt to hide our beliefs, we recognize that things take time for people.
Q: Will people judge me if I don’t believe what they believe?
A: The Bible teaches that we shouldn’t judge others, and so we seek to live according to this principle. We will challenge your beliefs, just as we are all challenged to move into a deeper relationship (or, perhaps, even to begin one) with our Lord Jesus. Here at FBC, we do our best to create a welcoming environment, which allows you to join in on our discussions and see what we believe. All the while, we pray that you will be challenged to consider the claims of Jesus Christ.
